Employees receive new Bapco award

 (June 24, 2010)

Four Bapco employees have been recognised for exceptional work ethic and efficiency as the first recipients of the Company’s new Diligent Worker of the Month award.

 A. Redha Habib of Technical Services Department and Hassan Nasser of Local Marketing are the winners for April, while Ali Hassan Ali of Shutdowns & Major Maintenance and Mohammed Ghuloom Ali of Awali Hospital are the award recipients for May.

The new award, introduced by Acting Chief Executive Faisal Al-Mahroos at a meeting to review Bapco’s first quarter 2010 achievements, recognises employees with specialised crafts who face challenging working conditions for their high work standards and exemplary attitude towards their job. Each month a selection committee chooses two winners from among nominations made by employees’ supervisors. Winners receive a cash award as well as a certificate of recognition.

About the April and May winners:

 A. Redha Habib is a Chemist in Technical Services Department and has been with Bapco 14 years. A. Redha was selected to receive the award in recognition of his efficiency. He recently became an ‘observer’ in the Company’s Behaviour-Based Safety programme, and has come up with analytical solutions to many behaviour observations which are part of the programme.

Hassan Nasser is a Senior Auto Mechanic in Local Marketing Department. Over his 29 years of service, Hassan has shown himself to be a loyal, hard worker who is highly skilled. He always accepts additional work assignments with a smile, producing high-quality work at the lowest cost possible. While making the effort to continue to develop his own skills, he also gladly passes on his work experience to younger colleagues.

Ali Hassan Ali of Shutdowns & Major Maintenance is a Craftsman Rigger ‘A’ with 33 years’ service with Bapco. Ali performs critical and specialised rigging activities such as the disassembling and reassembling of turbines and compressors, and the lifting of fragile parts – all in a professional and safe manner, displaying a positive work attitude and discipline, making Ali a role model for his colleagues.

Mohammed Ghuloom Ali is a Nurse currently working in Awali Hospital and is one of Bapco’s long-service employees who has made an exceptional contribution to the health and safety of the Company’s employees during his 45 years nursing for Bapco. Mohammed has given excellent nursing care at both the Refinery Clinic and at Awali Hospital, in operating theatres as well as wards.
